Call screening
and your data
Last updated: September 19, 2026
A safety check before dialing
Before placing an outbound call, ClawCall uses an AI safety check to review your request. This also applies to calls requested through connected assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude.
The check looks for requests involving fraud, threats, harassment, unwanted repeat contact, and other prohibited uses. It can also block requests that are unclear or ask the AI to handle restricted personal information.
What the check receives
- Your call instructions, destination phone number, request time, and any personality instructions for the AI, including saved personality settings.
- Your account ID and profile name, when available.
- Up to five of your account's most recent outbound calls. This can include their phone numbers, call IDs, dates, status, instructions, personality, greeting, voice selection, and the phone number used to connect you to a call.
- Available transcripts from those recent calls, including who spoke, what they said, and when. Captured conversations during a consultation or after you join a call can be included too.
Recent transcripts help the check recognize situations such as a recipient asking not to be called again. Only available call history is used, and long requests or histories may be shortened before screening.
ClawCall deletes these transcripts 7 days after each call ends, as described in our Privacy Policy. Once deleted, they are no longer available for future screening.
Who processes this information
ClawCall sends this information to the AI provider configured to run its safety check. The service uses OpenAI by default and can be configured to use another compatible provider and model.
The screening request asks the provider not to store the generated response. This is not a promise that the provider keeps no logs or other records. Its handling of information depends on its terms and the service configuration.
If a request is blocked
No call is placed if the check rejects the request or cannot complete. ClawCall returns an explanation and guidance about what to do next.
ClawCall records these attempts for review and abuse prevention. The record includes the account ID and IP address when available, destination number, instructions, personality, time, outcome, and the explanation and guidance returned. A rejection reason is recorded when the check rejects a request.
Keep sensitive details out of your instructions
Do not put passwords, one-time login codes, full payment card details, or government ID numbers in your call instructions or personality settings. Handle steps that need this information yourself.
Joining a call does not automatically make the conversation private or unrecorded. Depending on your call settings, recording and transcription can continue after you join.
